Fascinated with railroads and steeped in the great oral tradition of his family, Patrick Irelan is an editor for the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Iowa. His award-winning short stories have been published in numerous regional journals, including Kansas Quarterly, Crosscurrants, Iowa City Magazine, and Wisconsin River Valley Journal.
