University of Iowa Press is proud to offer competitive publishing internships to University of Iowa undergraduates in the editorial, marketing, and design & production departments. Internships are offered during the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Each department’s internship availabilities will be posted when recruiting begins. By participating in the internship program, students observe firsthand the inner workings of a university press and learn about all aspects of the publishing industry.
2026/2027 Academic Year Internships
UI Press is seeking one editorial intern, one marketing intern, and one design & production intern for the 2026–27 academic year, ideally continuing through the summer. The start date for all three positions may be as early as May, but could also begin in early August (TBD).
These internships are open to University of Iowa undergraduates only. We welcome applications from all interested students, with a preference for those pursuing a career in book publishing after graduation. Applicants will be considered for all three positions and will interview with the Press’s acquisitions editor, marketing director, and design & production manager, who will determine the best placement in editorial, marketing, or design & production.
Interns are expected to work approximately 10–12 hours per week, on site, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with schedules arranged around class commitments. All positions are paid.
